Who We Are
We are the Women’s Civic League of Cheyenne, “WCLC,” Wyoming, a Non-Profit organization and affiliate of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, GFWC. The GFWC is one of the world’s largest nonpartisan, nondenominational women’s volunteer service organizations
What is the Christmas House:
For the past forty-two years the Women’s Civic League of Cheyenne creates and hosts its only major fund-raising event, “Christmas House,” designed to raise needed funds for Laramie County. This two-day event is held each December in a large private residence. The home is transformed into a Christmas wonderland with magnificent decorations, unique gift items, art of many forms and delicious treats, all hand made throughout the preceding months by our members. Over 2,000 visitors parade through the home yearly. They are awed by the beauty along with the quality of the items and food available for purchase. Christmas House has become a much anticipated community tradition and represents the best in us all. Visitors leave Christmas House feeling inspired and infused with the spirit of the season.
Who We Assist:
As a result of this event, WCLC has been able to return back to our community nearly $1,500,000.00. One hundred percent (100%) of Christmas House proceeds are donated to local projects, programs and organizations, which in turn benefit our larger community. Fifteen percent (15%) of monies raised each year are given in the form of scholarships to students of Laramie County. The remaining funds are disbursed through annual awards granted by WCLC to entities such as Habitat For Humanity, Meals on Wheels, the Boys and Girls Club, Scottish Rite, V.A. Hospital, Wyoming Guardianship Program, Boy Scotts of America, Old West Museum, Botanic Gardens, Laramie County Library, and many other to numerous to list. Disbursement of these proceeds has over the years spanned all societal segments such as education, health and wellness, youth and senior services, women’s issues, substance and domestic abuse prevention, the arts conservation, as well as assisting the indigent and homeless.
This year’s Christmas House Chairwomen are Ann Adragna, Carmaledd Rose and Sue Tardiff.
